On the evening of June 7th, 2007, lives were changed. All of those involved didn’t know it yet, but they were changed just the same. That evening, Belanie Dishong, Founder of Live At Choice LLC, learned of Julie Rems-Smario and DeafHope. She was compelled to talk with Julie and to learn more about the DeafHope mission and organization. |

Dear Community, It is with great pleasure that we announce Julie Rems-Smario is now the full-salaried Executive Director for DeafHope. Julie was one of the eight founders of DeafHope in 2003. DeafHope is the product of many volunteer hours by more than a dozen people. We have leveraged many in-kind services to provide much-needed services for Deaf survivors of domestic and sexual violence. Julie has lead this organization in the right direction with the guidance of our strategic plans based on our vision for DeafHope and the needs of Deaf survivors. |

In August of 2008, DeafHope had a retreat for its 2008 Board of Directors. At this retreat we discussed plans for the future of DeafHope and the Door-to-Hope, a shelter for deaf women and their children who are survivors of Domestic and Sexual Violence. This was a full two-day retreat and many excellent ideas were shared and plans discussed. Please see the picture of the 2008 Board of Directors for DeafHope below. DeafHope 2008 Board

DeafHope’s FIRST Casino Night was a night full of fun and games...Casino Games. It was a small crowd but all who attended had a lot of fun and it was for a good cause. All proceeds will go to DeafHope services. Those who attended had the choice to play Blackjack, Poker, or Craps. Trina Licht and her husband Fred graciously offered their home in Mountain View.
