DeafHope provides a variety of services to children and youth.
Children’s Art Therapy: Art therapy is wonderful way for Deaf children and CODAS (children of Deaf adults) to express their feelings and process their experiences around violence. DeafHope is lucky to have a Deaf art therapist to provide individual and group services.
Outreach to schools: DeafHope provides outreach and education to our local Deaf school, the California School for the Deaf in Fremont, and to schools with Deaf students. An advocate is available to discuss topics including healthy dating, identifying the dynamics of dating violence and abuse, and accessing resources for support. Deaf Teen Violence Project: The peer model is fundamental to DeafHope services. We are working closely with Deaf teens to develop a comprehensive resource webpage with art, poetry, and information created by Deaf teens. This webpage will be launched soon, keep checking back for more information. |
